Lion Dance
Lion Dancing is a popular and famous performance. During lion dance performances, the lion performs acrobatic stunts to overcome obstacles. Shows include...
• Single lion
• Pair or group of lions
• Lion on the Poles, also known as “Mui Fa Jong”
• Lion on High Bamboo Pole
• Drunken Lion
• Lion on the Ground
The lion performs on the ground executing some spectacular stunts. It is believed the greater number of lions, the greater the prosperity and luck. One lion has 6- 8 performers. Two lions have 8-10 performers - both have accompanying drum and cymbals. Performances can be tailored for your event.
Mui Fa Jong (Lion on the poles)
The Mui Fa Jong creates a festive atmosphere and is believed to give greater prosperity and good luck. The Mui Fa Jong consists of many poles which are lined parallel with one another, each are elevated at various heights ranging from 1 - 3 metres above the ground. The lion performs stunning feats on top of these poles keeping the audience at the edge of their seats.
Lion on High Bamboo Pole
Lion dancing on the top of a high bamboo pole symbolises greater wealth and luck with every step of the business. During the performance, the spitting of lettuce or the releasing of a banner from a high bamboo pole symbolises the scattering of gold which will give the business greater prosperity. There are two different sizes of High Poles used, 3 metre and 5 metre. It is believed the higher the bamboo pole is, the greater the prosperity.
Drunken Lion
This performance can be included with Lion on the Ground Performance, a lot like a drunken person but using a Lion! The Lion drinks alcohol from a Chinese Wine Jug and becomes drunk, causing it to lose co-ordination and balance. This greatly amuses the audience creating a festive atmosphere.
