Joe Camilleri, aka Jo Jo Zep is a vocalist, saxophonist and songwriter and. He has recorded as a solo artist, as well as a member of Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons and The Black Sorrows.

Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons formed in 1975 and achieved considerable commercial and critical success. The band toured overseas and also played at the Montreaux Jazz and Blues festival. In 1981, most of The Falcons left the group, and the act's name was shortened to Jo Jo Zep.  They disbanded in 1983.

Joe Camilleri achieved his greatest success with The Black Sorrows, formed in 1984. They developed a strong fan following and received wide critical acclaim for both their recordings and superb live performances. They released a string of commercially successful albums in the 1980s and 1990s. With a number of different line-ups, the band has continued to release material through the 1990s and 2000s.

Joe Camilleri was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame in 2007 (as a member of Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons).
