Phil Moorea

Phil Moorea is one of Australia’s leading exponents of Flamenco guitar and South American rhythms having studied classical guitar, Flamenco guitar and jazz guitar.

Phil is a multi-style solo guitarist who, since 1993, has led the Spanish band 'Gypsy Rhythms' performing from duo to 6 piece band, including lead guitarist within a live flamenco dance show.

Discovering the guitar at the age of seven, Phil received his first lessons from banjo/guitarist, Phil Skinner.  Since then Phil has been fortunate to have studied under many great teachers of each of the following guitar styles - 

CLASSICAL GUITAR - with Peter Calvo at Sydney School of Spanish Guitar  
LATIN/JAZZ GUITAR - with world famous jazz guitarist, Ike Isaacs 
FLAMENCO GUITAR - with Robbie Varga and with Manolo Franco at Paco Pena's "Centro Flamenco" in Cordoba, Spain.   

Phil plays lead flamenco guitar for flamenco shows. He also plays Latin guitar, Brazilian Jazz and French repertoire.  Phil In the classical music scene, Phil plays classical guitar in a flute, cello and guitar trio   

Phil has appeared on TV and played on radio, performing his original compositions, including on TVS and Chanel 7's "Sydney Weekender” and "At Home"   

He has played for famous Australians including;
Former PM John Howard,  Joe Hockey, Morris Iemma,  Peter Cosgrove, Lindsay Fox, Frank Lowey, Valorie Taylor, Peter Pigott, Dick Smith, Max Walker, TV host, John Mangos. artist John Olsen, actor Jack Thompson,
