Mantanza

Two years ago Paul Chenard formed Afro-Latin funk ensemble MATANZA, shakin up the live Latin scene. Their irrepressible energy is unmatched by other Latin groups and their popularity continues to build, packing venues and gaining them the reputation as the must-see Latin Funk band around town!

They have been stunning audiences in some of Sydney's most popular venues: The Basement, @Newtown, Enmore Theatre, Woollara Hotel, Hemispheres, The Opera Bar and The Beach Road Hotel, plus more…

Backed by the powerful rhythm section of Tina Harris on bass, Matanza also comprises young prodigy Steve Marin on drums, the lyrical Andrew Noble on keys, the silky vocals of Virna Sanzone, explosive percussion of Cindy Tan and Paul Chenard on saxophones.

MATANZA can be booked from a 5 piece band up to a 12 piece Latin Big Band. They are set apart from many other Latin jazz lineups by their sheer energy level, charisma and most of all the sense of fun goin' on!
